Esther Akoth Osumba is a dedicated development practitioner with over ten years of experience implementing community-based health and livelihood programs in marginalized settings. As a Field Officer at CAFHED–Kenya, she plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s pillars of community health, empowerment, and resilience.
Esther holds a Diploma in Community Development from Maseno University and has extensive experience in HIV prevention, reproductive health, youth mentorship, and women’s empowerment. She previously served under the DREAMS initiative with Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), where she facilitated evidence-based behavioral interventions including Families Matter! Program (FMP) and Stepping Stones. She supported adolescent girls and young women through mentorship, safe space mobilization, and program reporting.
Esther has also worked with Upendo WWG under the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) TUNAWEZA Program, strengthening community-health linkages and mentoring Community Health Volunteers on positive health, dignity, and prevention practices. Her experience includes organizing organic farming initiatives, forming community savings groups, and supporting treatment adherence among women living with HIV.
At CAFHED, Esther integrates community mobilization, behavioral change communication, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring expertise to ensure inclusive, accountable, and peoplecentered programming that improves health outcomes and strengthens household livelihoods.
