Elinah Kemunto Okworo is a seasoned healthcare professional and Senior Program Officer at Community Alliance for Health and Development (CAFHED– Kenya), bringing over 16 years of progressive experience in community health nursing and public health programming within Kenya’s health system. A Kenyan Registered Community Health Nurse, she has served in leading referral and sub-county hospitals, including Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital and Iyabe Sub-County Hospital, where she gained extensive frontline clinical and supervisory experience.
Elinah has also successfully completed the Senior
Management Course at the Kenya School of
Government (KSG), a premier institution for public sector leadership development. This training significantly strengthens her strategic leadership,
public financial management, governance, policy implementation, and results-based management competencies. It enhances her ability to align program implementation with national health policies, manage resources efficiently, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure accountability and performance within complex health systems. The course complements her clinical background by equipping her with high-level administrative and decision-making skills essential for sustainable program leadership.
Her advanced stage of academic and professional development reflects a deliberate commitment to evidence-based care, quality improvement, and continuous professional growth—critical components in delivering sustainable health outcomes in underserved communities. With hands-on clinical experience across medical, surgical, emergency, and maternal-child health services, Elinah brings both technical depth and practical versatility to her role.
She plays a central role in Community Health Systems Strengthening, collaborating with health workers, community health volunteers, and local stakeholders to improve service delivery, health literacy, and accountability. She integrates cross-cutting priorities such as gender equity, safeguarding, and inclusive programming into CAFHED’s Four Pillars. Fluent in English and Swahili, Elinah combines clinical expertise, strategic management capacity, and grassroots engagement to advance resilient, people-centered community health systems.
