Ken Obora
Program Officer – Economic & Livelihood Resilience
Team Member
Ken Obora is a seasoned public health and disaster risk reduction specialist serving as Program Officer for Economic & Livelihood Resilience at CAFHED–Kenya. With over 15 years of progressive experience in health systems strengthening, emergency response, HIV prevention, and community resilience programming, Ken brings strong technical leadership aligned to CAFHED’s core program pillars.
Prior to joining CAFHED, Ken served with the Kenya Red Cross Society as Program Officer and County Health Focal Person, coordinating disaster risk reduction, flood recovery, nutrition assessments, and emergency referrals. He led contingency planning with county governments, UN agencies, and disaster committees, strengthening preparedness, response, and recovery systems—critical to building resilient communities.
Under the Global Fund supported programs and previously with FACES-KEMRI and Impact Research and Development Organization, Ken coordinated integrated community health outreaches delivering HIV testing services (HTS), TB screening, maternal health care, PMTCT, STI management, nutrition services, and psychosocial support. He has extensive experience facilitating evidence-based interventions, mentoring community health volunteers, strengthening PLHIV networks, and ensuring donor compliance through robust monitoring and reporting systems.
At CAFHED, Ken leads initiatives that link economic empowerment with health resilience—supporting vulnerable households to build sustainable livelihoods while improving access to health, nutrition, and social protection services. His expertise in stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, emergency coordination, and community systems strengthening reinforces CAFHED’s pillars of Health, Livelihoods, Resilience, and Community Empowerment.
Ken combines strategic coordination, technical depth, and grassroots engagement to advance sustainable, shock-responsive development solutions for communities across Kenya.
